Red Hot Spot
Alumni Success Story: Aquil Sudah – Audio Quality Control Specialist
Red Hot Spot: A Rising Star in the Audio Industry
Aquil Sudah is an Audio Quality Control Specialist at Furnace Record Pressing in Alexandria, VA — a particularly exciting and specialized role in the audio production field.
We caught up with Aquil to learn about his journey, how he secured his job, and his experiences before and after attending The Omega Studios’ School of Applied Recording Arts & Sciences.
Aquil Sudah’s History in Music and Audio
When Did You Become Interested in Music?
“I became interested in music when I was in elementary school. One of my teachers would bring his keyboard to school, and every day during aftercare, kids would do all types of activities, but I would be inside playing with the keyboard.
I would create snippets and melodies, save them, and be super excited to build on them the next day.
That’s what sparked my love for and interest in music and music production.”
How Were You Introduced to Omega Studios’ School?
“Before I came to Omega, I had toured the school while I was still in elementary school. I always knew it was an option outside of a traditional college path.
I did attend college for a Music Industry major but never finished.
Over a 3-4 year span, I had about 15 different jobs — in audio, retail, hospitality, and restaurants.
After weighing my options for the future, Omega Studios offered the best opportunity for advancing my career.”
Career After Omega Studios: Job Placement Success
What Did You Do Immediately After Graduating from Omega?
“Immediately after graduation, I was hired by a lighting company — a job opportunity I received through Robert, the Director of Job Placement at Omega.
A month later, I was hired by an audio company that subcontracts workers for church services.”
What Are You Doing Now?
“Now I am an Audio Quality Control Specialist for a record-pressing company.”
Reflections on Omega Studios’ School Experience
In addition to sharing his career journey, Aquil offered thoughtful words about his experience at The Omega Studios’ School:
“Omega was a great learning experience that connected a lot of dots for me.
Before attending, I had experience producing music and using Pro Tools, FL Studio, GarageBand, and doing live sound and audiovisual work.
However, I didn’t know the meaning of technical terms like ratio, gain, attack, and release — even though I understood how changes affected sound.
At Omega, it all came together.
The instruction was in-depth, taught by experienced engineers who actively work in the field.
They taught current industry techniques as well as techniques from previous decades.
Most Valuable Lessons from Omega:
- Learning how to properly mix audio, understanding the full dynamic range from infinitely low to a maximum of 0dBFS.
- Gaining a clear understanding of processors and audio engineering fundamentals.
- Building a strong foundation for a successful career in the audio industry.
“Even this description is just a small fraction of what I actually learned. It was an invaluable, informative, and transformative experience.”
Congratulations, Aquil!
We at Omega Studios’ School are incredibly proud of Aquil Sudah and his outstanding achievements.
We wish him continued success as he advances in the audio production and quality control industry!
